Where have I been?
It’s been a while since I posted anything on this blog or social media accounts. First of all, I really appreciate all of you for sticking around. The New York City Inspired facebook page has especially grown and I love having this community of fellow NYC lovers. As I continue to gather my thoughts, I thought I’d share with you, where I’ve been, what I’ve been up to, and what’s taken me so long to post!
What happened to me?
Over the past few years, I started dealing with crippling anxiety and panic attacks. More than I’ve ever felt before. This took away much of my sense of adventure and freedom. I used to love spending 10 hours walking around my beloved NYC, and suddenly I was finding myself having a hard time leaving my house just to run to the store to get cereal and milk. It’s been a journey and not one I take lightly. With the help of a great psychiatrist and psychologist, I’ve been receiving the help I need including talk therapy weekly and daily medication to help. I’m on my way and I believe it will continue to get better.
Where am I?
After a lot of thinking and tough decisions, my husband and I decided to leave the Northeast 2.5 years ago and we moved to North Carolina. North Carolina wasn’t a random choice, our reason in moving here was for work. The company we remotely worked for asked us to move here. In looking into the cost of living and medical care, etc, we decided to take the leap and give it a try. Since moving here, we’ve bought a house and have begun to settle in a bit. Let me assure you, not a day goes by that I don’t miss living in the Northeast. I miss the people, the accents, the food (oh the pizza and the bagels), driving into Manhattan and seeing that exquisite skyline. Nothing fills me like NYC and I don’t think that will ever change. But sometimes you do things for the bigger picture and we knew it was the right decision for us to make that move at that time. But who knows what the future holds…..
What now?
Let me assure you, my love for NYC has not changed and will not change. I still have SO much NYC inspiration to share with you. We actually took a trip back to NYC in October 2019 and I have so many photos and posts to share with you from that trip and many others from my past adventures and future. I will work to get back to posting regularly and hope you continue to keep checking back for more NYC greatness. (I currently have 39 posts in drafts, so I still have a lot of past adventures to share with you).
Thanks for sticking around. The bond we share as fellow NYC lovers is a special thing 🙂
