Cheers to 2014, a great year in NYC!
Happy New Year! I hope your 2014 was amazing and that this new year is going to be even better, full of adventure and new experiences.
We have now entered our 3rd year living in the Northeast and it’s still like a dream. I never get tired of walking the streets of NYC, summer, fall, winter or spring. Each seasons compliments New York in it’s own way. Different things to experience and different activities going on. I just love NYC.
2014 was a great year of new experiences for us in NYC! My husband grew up here so he’s seen and experienced so much, but for me a lot of this is new. We’d visited dozens of times before living in the area, but now that we are here we are able to experience so much more. If it’s sitting on a bench in Central Park for 3 hours or walking around Manhattan aimlessly, we can do it because we aren’t under the rush of our vacation deadline like in years before. We have done a lot of the typical touristy NYC experiences already, but here are some of the amazing first time NYC experiences that were brand new to me in 2014:
-The Bronx Zoo
-The New York Aquarium
-Yankees game opening week
-First NYC musical (Christmas show at The Theater at Madison Square Garden)
-ate at The Burger Joint (secret spot inside LeParker Meridien) – separate blog post on this coming soon!
-Brooklyn Flea
-Mood – giant fabric store featured on Project Runway
-Chealsea Market
-Stone St (had lunch in the summer during the World Cup- was amazing!)
-The LOVE sign
-visited well known church’s – Brooklyn Tabernacle & Hillsong NYC
-New areas I had never been include:
-Staten Island
-Queens
-parts of Brooklyn (Bay Ridge, Sheapshead Bay, Bed-Stuy, Fort Greene, Dumbo – just to name a few)
-Harlem
-upper parts of Central Park
-upstate New York (Hudson Valley area)
-TV or movie locations:
-Building from Friends
-Serendipity
-The House from Blue Bloods
-The House from King of Queens (actually in New Jersey)
2014 was a great year filled with lots of new adventures. Now that 2015 is here I’m already planning our next adventures including different places to eat, different sites to see and different things to experience. Some of our to do lis for 2015 :
-Yankees vs Red Sox opening week in the Bronx (already got our tickets!)
-The Tonight show with Jimmy Fallon (I’ve been trying to reserve tickets online for 2 years, but I WILL wait in line to see him this year!)
-Brooklyn Nets game
-Broadway Show
-visit the famous Katz’s Deli & famous Carnegie Deli
This list will continue to grow! You can follow me on Instagram as I’m always posting pics of our adventures. Here’s my promise to try to blog more often too 🙂
Cheers to 2014 for being a great year and to hoping 2015 is even better!
