“These lights will inspire you” (Photos)

There are so many great songs about New York. “New York State of Mind” by Billy Joel, “New York, New York” by Frank Sinatra, and “Empire State of Mind” by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys just to name a few. The chorus in Empire State of Mind is:

New York, concrete jungle where dreams are made of
There’s nothin’ you can’t do
Now you’re in New York
These streets will make you feel brand new
The lights will inspire you
Let’s hear it for New York, New York, New York

It really is the City where dreams are made of. The lights inspire me every time.

The other night, we went to the waterfront in Weehawken, New Jersey, which faces New York City on the Hudson River side. The view is breathtaking, words can’t really describe how beautiful it is. The City is so close and you can see the entire skyline in all its beauty. We went after dark so the city was all lit up.

If you have the opportunity to check out the waterfront in New Jersey, I definitely recommend it. You can see the view of Manhattan from Hoboken as well but it’s more in line with downtown. I would suggest checking out Hamilton Park in Weehawken (see the map below). Its more inline with mid-town Manhattan, placing you in front of the Empire State Building and giving you more of the iconic NYC skyline. You can take the ferry, bus or Path train from Manhattan to Hoboken and transfer to the bus to Weehawken.

Here are some photos I took.

There’s nothing like NYC….I just love it. I hope you enjoyed these photos. I definitely recommend viewing NYC from the New Jersey side. It will take your breath away!

What’s your favorite part of the NYC skyline? Do you have a favorite NYC building? Let me know if the comments below.
