A visit to the New York Aquarium
Another item on my New York City bucket list was a visit to the The New York Aquarium. The aquarium is in Coney Island, Brooklyn. We want to check out all the zoos, so we got annual passes to the New York Zoo’s which include’s unlimited admission for an entire year into the following:
–The Bronx Zoo
–The Central Park Zoo
–The Queens Zoo
–The Prospect Park Zoo
–The New York Aquarium
The aquarium consists of an indoor part that has several different tanks including one HUGE one called Glovers Reef. It has all kinds of tropical fish, including some huge rays and eels. I think everyone can agree, watching the fish swim is so peaceful. The floor to ceiling glass allows you to see everything and imagine you are under the ocean somewhere.
I visited the aquarium in the winter so the outdoor sections were mostly closed. I’m looking forward to going back in the warmer months and seeing the rest of the aquarium. In the outdoor parts that were closed they have sea lions, penguins, sea otters, and walrus, turtles and rays. They were also adding a large shark exhibit.
Another neat part about the aquarium is, it’s located right on the Coney Island boardwalk, so after your done you can stroll down the boardwalk for some more fun. Overall, I really enjoyed it and I definitely want to go back.

This guy loved to pose for my photos…
